9/17/2012Recently there have been some changes regarding Dibels Benchmarks.
Apparently, DIBELS Authors in the University Oregon had parted ways due to the latest benchmark scores promoted by the University of Oregon. For the first time, the scores represent students and the 65 – 75th percentile versus 39 – 50th.

In this chart, you can see that the scores are challenging through the University of Oregon. We cannot see a way for a student not in the appropriate Glade grade level of RM to meet these goals.
The RTI consortium for the state of Nebraska is suggesting that schools stay with previous DIBELS Next goals for this year and creating transition plans to the University of Oregon goals moving forward. From a data collection aspect, there are now multiple places that a school can use to submit data. Some sites will be DIBELS Next sites, others will be University of Oregon.
Given these changes, all the more reason for lesson progress at mastery to receive a lot of attention.
