 Lesson Extensions for Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons by Cyndi Caniglia
Lesson Extensions is designed as a supplement to Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. It is intended for parents, caregivers, and teachers of children ages 4 and above who are beginning to learn to read. This program provides additional instruction in phonemic awareness, fluency and spelling, and includes an assessment component to determine mastery within both Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons and Lesson Extensions.
Lessons Include:
• Phonemic awareness activities that provide skills and practice necessary for reading success.
• Alphabetic principle tasks used to scaffold instruction on the process of encoding, or spelling.
• Fluency practice on sounds, words, sentences, and connected text throughout the program.
• Activities at the end of lessons related to lesson content which include games, writing activities, fluency building activities, visual discrimination tasks, and more.
• Sound and word cards to use with games and activities in the program as well as for additional practice on sounds and words when needed.
• Decodable books which provide additional practice in reading decodable, connected text. A decodable story appears every 5 lessons from Lesson 20 through the end of the program. Words in the decodable stories correlate with words that students have mastered within the program.
• Mastery Tests as an assessment tool to determine student success in 5 lesson intervals throughout the program. Suggestions for remediation are provided along with each assessment.
